SMB Hub Discrimination Policy

Introduction

Small Business Hub is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community where all small business owners and entrepreneurs can connect, share, and learn from one another’s experiences. Diversity and equal opportunities are integral to the success of our community. In order to uphold these values, we have established this Discrimination Policy to ensure that every member of Small Business Hub is treated fairly and with respect, regardless of their race, colour, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other protected characteristic under Canadian law.

Scope

This Discrimination Policy applies to all Small Business Hub members, staff, volunteers, and any individuals involved in the organization and its activities, including events, workshops, seminars, and any online platforms managed by Small Business Hub.

Policy Statement

Small Business Hub is dedicated to providing a discrimination-free environment where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. Any form of discrimination based on race, colour, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other protected characteristic under Canadian law is strictly prohibited.

Discrimination includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviours:

  1. Treating an individual unfairly or with hostility due to their protected characteristic.
  2. Denying opportunities or benefits to an individual based on their protected characteristic.
  3. Creating or contributing to a hostile or intimidating environment based on an individual’s protected characteristics.

All Small Business Hub members, staff, and volunteers are responsible for ensuring that their actions and behaviours adhere to this policy.

Any concerns or complaints regarding discrimination should be reported immediately to the designated Small Business Hub representative. All reports will be treated with confidentiality and taken seriously. Appropriate action will be taken to address any discrimination issues, which may include disciplinary measures or termination of membership.

Prevention and Education

Small Business Hub is committed to providing ongoing education and resources to promote awareness and understanding of diversity, inclusion, and the principles outlined in this Discrimination Policy.

All members, staff, and volunteers are encouraged to participate in any training and educational opportunities Small Business Hub provides to further their understanding of diversity and inclusion.

Policy Review

This Discrimination Policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure its continued effectiveness and relevance. Any necessary changes or updates will be communicated to all members, staff, and volunteers in a timely manner.
