Saluting Ontario’s Resilient Small Businesses
Nina Tangri, Ontario’s Associate Minister of Small Business, thanks the province’s 500,000 small businesses for their resilience amid tariffs and economic uncertainty, calling them the “backbone of our economy.” As a former business owner, she highlights government support under Premier Doug Ford, delivering $11.9 billion in 2025 savings through tax cuts and reduced electricity costs.Key measures include lowering the Small Business Corporate Income Tax, permanent fuel tax reductions, raising the Employer Health Tax exemption to $1 million, and WSIB premium cuts saving employers $150 million annually plus $6 billion in rebates since 2021.
These initiatives create a business-friendly environment for innovation and job growth, with additional grants like Starter Company Plus (up to $5,000), Regional Development Funds, and tariff response programs available to SMEs.
