🚨 Canada’s Quantum Secure Future Begins Now
In 2025, Canada took decisive steps to prepare for a world where quantum computers can break today’s encryption. The federal government has released a nationwide roadmap to transition all sensitive systems to post quantum cryptography by 2035, with critical assets set for modernization by 2031. Departments must submit full migration plans by April 2026, marking one of the most significant cybersecurity shifts in our nation’s history.
As quantum capabilities evolve, the risk of harvest now decrypt later attacks continues to grow. Canada’s strategy addresses this head on through cryptographic audits, quantum safe research, talent development, and the buildout of a national secure quantum communications network.
At the same time, cloud and edge security remain front and center. With over 85 percent of Canadian businesses running workloads in the cloud, threats like credential theft and misconfigurations demand stronger zero trust models, AI powered detection, and stricter data sovereignty compliance. Edge security is becoming equally essential as IoT and smart infrastructure expand.
Canada’s 2025 security roadmap brings these priorities together. The message is clear. The future will require crypto agility, continuous monitoring, and a skilled workforce ready to navigate a new era of digital risk.
