There’s a steady rise in the number of women entrepreneurs within the Canadian business scene. This is substantiated by the recently launched Canada’s 2024 State of Women’s Entrepreneurship (SOWE) report. In fact, women make up a more significant percentage of Indigenous business owners (23.2%) than non-Indigenous women company owners (19.5%). However, the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub reports that only 4% of venture capital funding in Canada goes to female founders.
